Empowering audition candidates for a winning future.

High-pressure, low-risk orchestral audition experience

If you’re a string player who attended music school, you know that most of your time is filled with rehearsals, classes, practice and lessons. Maybe you had a weekly orchestral repertoire class, and at best you had 1-2 mock auditions a semester.

When it’s time to do an actual audition, many fees are associated with auditioning: flight tickets, Airbnb stays, Ubers to the audition, food, and time lost. Depending on the city, if this is a multi-day audition, it can cost as much as 1k.

We started Mockers, Inc. with you in mind. Let’s fill this strategic gap with weekly auditions for string instruments, without a financial and emotional burden.

Where is this located?

We have relocated cities! No longer in Boston, the next audition will take place in Winston Salem, NC. Mock auditions always occur in-person, on a stage within a 5 mile radius of downtown, easily accessible by public transportation.

For now we are limiting participation to classical string instrumentalists: violin, viola, cello, bass. 18+ years of age.

Who can participate?

What is the repertoire?

Participants will pick an exposition of a concerto and 3-4 standard orchestral excerpts. Auditions will last approximately 10 minutes in order to best replicate a preliminary round.

What is included?

following the audition, participants will receive:

  1. A recording of their playing (audio or visual on request)

  2. Comments from three judges

  3. Option for a 30 minute zoom call discussing their experience and preparation

“This fills a crucial gap in our music education system: The Art of Auditioning.”
